Overview
These Terms & Conditions apply to all alterations, tailoring, garment fitting, and related services provided by NLefashion. By proceeding with an alteration service, clients acknowledge and accept the terms outlined below.
Our goal is to provide professional alteration services, clear communication, and realistic expectations regarding garment fit, construction limitations, and alteration outcomes.
Consultations & Fittings
All alteration recommendations are based on in-person fittings and garment assessments.
Because fit, garment construction, fabric behaviour, and body proportions can only be properly evaluated during a fitting, NLefashion does not provide alteration quotes or alteration recommendations based solely on photographs, phone calls, emails, or messages.
Clients are encouraged to bring any items that may affect fit, including event shoes, shapewear, undergarments, accessories, or support garments intended to be worn with the final outfit.
Estimates & Pricing
Pricing is determined after the garment has been assessed during a fitting appointment.
Alteration costs vary based on garment construction, fabric type, design details, complexity of work, required labour, and overall project scope.
Any quoted pricing is based on the work discussed during the fitting. Additional alterations requested after work has begun may result in additional charges.
Deposits & Payment
A 50% deposit is required before alteration work begins, with the remaining balance due upon completion and prior to garment pickup.
For larger or more complex projects that require multiple fittings, additional payments may be collected throughout the alteration process. In these cases, an additional portion of the balance may be due during a follow-up fitting, with the remaining balance due before final pickup.
Accepted payment methods include:
- Cash
- Debit
- E-Transfer
Alteration Approval
Clients are responsible for reviewing alteration recommendations during their fitting appointment.
By approving the proposed alterations and authorizing work to begin, clients acknowledge that they understand the scope of work, estimated pricing, and any limitations discussed during the consultation.
Garment Construction Limitations
Not every garment can be altered to achieve every requested result.
Alteration possibilities are often affected by:
- Available seam allowances
- Fabric characteristics
- Existing garment construction
- Decorative details
- Lace placement
- Beading and embellishments
- Structural support systems
- Previous alterations
- Garment condition
Where limitations exist, recommendations will be discussed during the fitting process.
Client Weight & Body Changes
Garment fit is based on the client’s measurements and body shape at the time of fitting.
Significant weight changes, body composition changes, pregnancy, posture changes, or other physical changes occurring after alterations have been completed may affect garment fit.
Additional alterations required as a result of these changes may be subject to additional charges.
Wedding Dress & Formal Wear Alterations
Wedding gowns, bridesmaid dresses, evening gowns, formal wear, and designer garments often involve complex construction techniques, specialty fabrics, lace, beading, and multiple garment layers.
While every effort is made to preserve the original design and appearance of the garment, certain alterations may require modification, repositioning, or reconstruction of decorative elements in order to achieve the desired fit.
Rush Alterations
Rush services may be available depending on workload, garment complexity, and scheduling availability.
Additional rush fees may apply.
Acceptance of a rush project does not eliminate the need for fittings or approval appointments when required.
Garment Storage & Pickup
Clients will be notified when their garments are ready for pickup.
Completed garments should be collected within a reasonable timeframe following notification.
NLefashion is not responsible for long-term storage of completed garments.
Garments left unclaimed for extended periods may be subject to storage fees or other arrangements permitted by applicable laws.
Warranty & Workmanship
NLefashion stands behind the quality of its workmanship.
If a workmanship issue directly related to the alteration service is identified within 30 days of pickup, clients should contact us promptly so the garment can be assessed.
Where appropriate, workmanship-related issues may be corrected at no additional charge.
This warranty does not apply to:
- Normal wear and tear
- Fabric failure
- Existing garment defects
- Damage caused after pickup
- Weight fluctuations or body changes
- Issues unrelated to the completed alteration work
Satisfaction Commitment
Our goal is to ensure every client leaves with a garment that fits as intended and reflects the alterations discussed during the fitting process. If concerns arise during a fitting or at pickup, we encourage clients to communicate them so they can be reviewed and addressed where appropriate.
Because alterations are highly individualized and depend on garment construction, fabric limitations, and client preferences, outcomes are evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Our team remains committed to quality workmanship, clear communication, and achieving the best possible result for each garment.
Returns & Refunds
Because alteration services involve labour performed on a client’s garment, completed alteration work is generally non-refundable.
Requests for refunds or service adjustments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
Where concerns arise, NLefashion will make reasonable efforts to assess the garment and determine an appropriate solution.
Garments We May Decline
NLefashion reserves the right to decline alteration work where:
- The requested result is not realistically achievable
- The alteration may compromise garment integrity
- The garment presents an unusually high risk of damage
- The fabric is excessively delicate or unstable
- Previous alterations have significantly affected construction
- The requested modification falls outside our area of expertise
Recommendations for alternative solutions may be provided when possible.
Client Responsibilities
Clients are responsible for:
- Attending scheduled appointments on time
- Bringing appropriate shoes and undergarments when necessary
- Reviewing alteration recommendations during fittings
- Communicating concerns before final pickup
- Inspecting garments at pickup
Open communication throughout the process helps ensure the best possible outcome.
Limitation of Liability
While every reasonable effort is made to provide professional alteration services, NLefashion’s liability shall be limited to the value of the alteration service performed.
NLefashion is not responsible for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses arising from garment use, event scheduling, travel arrangements, or circumstances beyond our control.
