About the Position

NLefashion is seeking an experienced Senior Bridal Alteration & Wedding Gown Reconstruction Specialist to join our bridal alteration team. This role focuses on advanced wedding dress alterations, bridal gown reconstruction, fit corrections, corsetry modifications, bustle creation, and detailed hand-finishing techniques.

The successful candidate will work primarily on wedding gowns and bridal garments, while occasionally supporting bridesmaid dresses and formal gowns requiring advanced alteration expertise. The position requires a strong understanding of bridal garment construction, fit analysis, and luxury fabrics.

This position is ideal for an alteration professional with extensive experience in bridal wear, wedding gown construction, couture sewing techniques, garment fitting, and bridal garment finishing.

Key Responsibilities

Wedding Dress Alterations & Bridal Gown Reconstruction

  • Perform advanced wedding dress alterations, including bodice adjustments, waist modifications, hip shaping, hem alterations, bustle installations, sleeve modifications, and neckline adjustments
  • Execute bridal gown reconstructions while maintaining the intended fit, silhouette, and overall appearance of the garment
  • Modify lace, appliqués, beading, embroidery, corsetry, and decorative design elements while preserving original design intent
  • Reshape and reconstruct wedding gowns to accommodate significant fit changes while preserving the original design and construction of the garment
  • Perform alterations on strapless, off-the-shoulder, long-sleeve, illusion, mermaid, ball gown, A-line, sheath, and fit-and-flare wedding dresses

Bridal Garment Construction & Technical Alterations

  • Analyze bridal garment construction methods to determine appropriate alteration approaches
  • Perform seam adjustments, panel reconstruction, dart modifications, lining alterations, and garment fit corrections
  • Modify internal support systems, including boning, corsetry structures, built-in cups, waist stays, crinolines, and support components
  • Execute alterations requiring partial garment disassembly and reconstruction
  • Work with silk, satin, crepe, tulle, chiffon, organza, lace, mikado, jacquard, velvet, and specialty bridal fabrics

Bridal Fit Analysis & Alteration Planning

  • Conduct detailed bridal garment fit assessments during client fittings
  • Identify fitting issues related to bust positioning, waist placement, hip shaping, train distribution, comfort, and mobility
  • Apply garment adjustment techniques to achieve improved fit and proportion
  • Evaluate seam placement, garment construction, and fabric behaviour when planning alterations
  • Recommend alteration solutions based on garment construction and client requirements

Hand Sewing & Bridal Finishing

  • Perform detailed hand-finishing techniques on wedding gowns and bridal garments
  • Execute invisible hems, hand-applied lace placement, beadwork restoration, and finishing work
  • Reattach and reposition appliqués, embellishments, trims, and decorative details after alterations
  • Maintain high standards of garment presentation, finishing quality, and craftsmanship

Client Fittings & Alteration Planning

  • Conduct one-on-one bridal fittings and wedding gown assessments
  • Explain alteration recommendations, garment limitations, and fitting strategies to clients
  • Document alteration requirements and fitting notes accurately
  • Collaborate with the alteration team to ensure consistent execution and quality standards

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in bridal alterations, wedding dress alterations, tailoring, or garment construction
  • Strong understanding of wedding gown construction and bridal alteration methods
  • Experience with corsetry, bustles, lace modifications, bridal gown reconstruction, and luxury fabrics
  • Advanced hand sewing and machine sewing skills
  • Ability to assess garment structure and develop alteration solutions independently
  • Excellent attention to detail and quality control standards
